Brockport Football Team remembers the life of head coach

The Brockport High School Football team remembers their head coach as they play their first season in 10 years without him.

Before kick-off, the team and school honored Coach Pelletier.

There was a dedication and the Athletic Director spoke about his passion for football and the kids he coached.

It was clear that Coach Pelletier loved every part of his life and his team isn't going to let that passion be forgotten.

Lisa Pelletier, his wife, says, ?We will never forget, we miss him everyday, but we look forward to celebrating his life.?

Tonight the life of Coach Greg Pelletier was honored at Brockport High School's home opener football game.

Pelletier coached the team for 10 year. Last year he led his team to it's best season in school history, while fighting a battle of his own.

He lost his battle with bladder cancer in February.

He taught his team more than just football, players say he taught them about dedication and strength.

At time it was painful for Pelletier to walk, but he found ways to make it to practice and games. Throughout his treatment he only missed a few.

Lisa Pelletier says, ?When he was sick he still tried to smile and I think he felt good.? Hr always said he felt the best when he was coaching cause he loved it so much.?

Today his dedication to his team was remembered. A rock with his name and picture now sits on the path leading to the field.

Pelletier's wife, 11-year-old son and family came for the dedication.

Lisa Pelletier says, ?I know this day would mean a lot to him.?

Fans on their feet, the football players and cheerleaders on the field, all here tonight to honor their head coach. It's a sight that fills Lisa Pelletier's heart.

Lisa Pelletier says, ?He worked hard, but he always had that loving care free spirit that I think really touched a lot of people. He loved coaching, he loved working with the kids, loved working with the coaches.?

The Blue Devils won tonight, beating Spencerport.

One of the most touching moments was right after Brockport scored their first touchdown. A rainbow appeared over the field.

It was a fitting symbol after a heartwarming dedication.
